1.  What is considered an amusement ride or device?

Any mechanized device or combination of devices which carries or conveys passengers along,  around or over a fixed or restricted course for the purpose of giving its passengers amusement, pleasure, thrills or excitement.  “Amusement ride” includes the business of operating bungee jumping services or providing services to facilitate bungee jumping, but does not include slides, playground equipment, mechanical horse or bull rides, coin-operated or self‑operated devices.


2.  Who is required to register a carnival or amusement park?

Any organization with the intention of operating an amusement ride or device within the state of Colorado.


3.  Am I required to register if I am operating a bungee jumping operation?

Yes, call the Public Safety Office at 303-318-8495 to obtain a registration application.


4.  What are the requirements for inspections of amusement rides or devices?

Registration applicant must submit a Certificate of Inspection, the documentation of the annual amusement ride inspection conducted by an inspector, for each ride that applicant intends to operate within Colorado at the time of registration.  A person qualified by training, education, or experience to conduct safety inspections of amusement rides or devices on behalf of an insurance company and in accordance with the ASTM standards, the manufacturer’s standards and criteria, or standards established by the insurance company.


5.  Who inspects and completes the Certificate of Inspection?

An inspector qualified by training, education, or experience to conduct safety inspections of amusement rides or devices on behalf of an insurance company and in accordance with the ASTM standards, the manufacturer’s standards and criteria, or standards established by the insurance company.


6.  When will my registration expire?

Registrations are valid for 12 months.
